With funding from the Government of Venezuela, FAO implemented the project “Partnership for Sustainable Rice Systems Development in Sub-Sahara Africa” to support ten of the major rice producing countries. In Nigeria, this has helped to develop and strengthen the capacity of smallholder rice farmers and community-based rice seeds producers to effectively produce quality rice seed varieties and paddy to improve the competitiveness of domestic rice production.
